The August meeting of the TI-Chips was opened with the reading of the July Minutes. Ron Markus advised me that his comments were erroneously reported. As it turned out, I used the wrong word when reporting Ron’s comments. During the discussion about what the TI-Chips could bring to CCAG 2004 this October, Ron volunteered that, if he was able to locate the DEMO disk for the “Missing Link” routine, he would make copies for the show. (I erroneously used the word “master” instead of “demo”. Thanks for the “heads up” Ron.)
I showed, those in attendance, samples of the TI-Chips fliers and colorful call cards we will bring to the CCAG. The call cards were the result of a wonderful idea proposed by Lucille Mayer. Thanks Lucy. We also determined that Harry Hoffman’s tri-fold table and a card table from me will serve us very well. It looks like it's a definite “go” for CCAG 2004.
I also reported that I received confirmation, from the library Administrator, for our reservation of the Storytime meeting room for the third Saturday of the month through June, 2005.
Some of the readers of my latest issues of the TI-Chips’ meeting minutes, saved in generic ASCII, may have noticed strange characters within the text. As it turns out, I am using the latest version of Word, and it seems that AOL is unable to translate the closed quote character and a second hyphen correctly. I had this same problem when I was using Office 2000 Word. However it seemed to have corrected itself with time. I am hoping the same will go with Office XP. I remember the difficulty we had with TI-99/4A’s Funnelweb Writer being unable to correctly interpret the carat “^” character. I guess the old saying, “The more things change, the more they stay the same,” still applies.
I reported that Lin Shaw is looking for a copy of “PC Transfer”. Les Kee, Harry Hoffman and I said we will try to locate a copy for Lin.
I asked, in addition to attempts through E-mail, if anyone objected to having their name published with the 2001 TI-Chips’ Christmas party picture. Since there were no objections voiced, I will authorize the posting of the names of those who appear in the 2001 Christmas party shot. (The picture can be seen at the new OLUG site located at: http://ti99olug.org/. Please let me know if this URL works.)
Harry won this month's 50:50 raffle. Congratulations Harry.
The September meeting will be held on Saturday, September 18 in the Storytime meeting room of the North Royalton branch library from 10:00 ‘till noon.
