The April meeting of the TI-Chips was called to order, and the Minutes from the March meeting were read. Lin Shaw had to leave early; therefore I gave the Treasurer's report. There was no Membership report and Les Kee reported that our disk library had a bit more dust on the disks.
Scott Kee reported that he was looking into software to provide our web site with an interactive site for the Jim Peterson Achievement Awards. I said we (the TI-Chips) are shooting for an August 1st inauguration of the interactive pages. I suggested that Scott get together with Tom Wills Webmaster for the TI99'ers Hall of Fame web site. (Located at www.ti99hof.org.) I offered to provide Scott with Tom's E-mail address. Scott said he is hoping to construct an interactive page with minimal costs. (Free)
I gave an update on the status of voting for the Jim Peterson Achievement Award. I also reminded the members that nominees for the TI-99/4A Software, TI-99/4A Hardware and Myarc "Geneve" 9640 awards are un-apposed. Therefore the awards will be issued to these nominees.
I also reported that I received an inquiry, from Bruce Maret, regarding availability of the TI-Chips' TI MUG '96 and TI MUG '99 VHS videotapes. It seems that the Bruce intends to create DVDs of historic TI community events that were recorded on VHS tapes. He said he was more interested in preserving these historic files than making money on the project. Those in attendance agreed to allow him authorization to use the TI MUG tapes. However, we were unable to identify a source of spare tapes to send to him. I said I would try to contact John Parken to see if he still had a spare set of first generation copies available.
I relayed a "Hello" from former TI-Chips member Jim Krych, who is still serving on active duty, to the group.
The rest of the meeting consisted of friendly banter and discussions of computer problems and experiences.
Norb Setter won the monthly 50:50 drawing. Congratulations Norb.
It was announced that the next meeting of the TI-Chips will be held on May 15, in the Storytime Room of the North Royalton branch library from 10:00am 'til noon.
